         Since November last year when MP George Galloway split from RESPECT, taking few with him but managing to maintain control, students who were already members were banned from Annual Conference and were not allowed to continue to be a part of 4 year old political project RESPECT. This has resulted in students still using the name Student RESPECT in forums such as the NUS but otherwise do not continue to organise or be a part of RESPECT. Left-wing students once involved in RESPECT are still the strongest Left force within the NUS.
