Our main purpose is none other than to represent the interests of the Muslim community at Goldsmiths College. Having a formal system in which Muslims can have their voices heard regarding issues within the University itself or students Union affairs. For the benefit of our members we hold regular activities and events such as football on a regular basis, ISoc lunchtime amongst a range of other activities. We have been given the benefit of being provided a multi faith prayer room to stay in line with the principles of our faith, with ablution facilities with hot and cold running water.
The Islamic Society is primarily an Islamic service for the sole purpose to cater the needs of Muslim students and to promote the ideals of Islam to non-Muslims in the university. Our events are open to all students regardless of their race, ethnicity, gender etc. Past events have been very successful examples include last years “Discover Islam Week” which won event of the year at Goldsmiths.Another project that the members of our Isoc were engaged was “Charity Week” which was a week of events including jumble sale, world food day, and campus collections. This allowed us to promote the essence of charity to both Muslims and non-Muslims within the university.
