Update on policy passed 30/10/08

Details of the policies passed at the last meeting can be found in the minutes to the right of this page, here are the actions taken so far:

Pro-Choice motion – Affiliation cheque written and sent to abortion rights.
Conversion of Green Room to a common room space – Meeting set for
20/11/08 at 5.30pm in the Green Room to discuss ideas for how the space is to be developed – Open meeting.
Reform of the ‘Made in Goldsmiths’ Project –
Meeting set for 24/11/08 at 5pm to discuss how the project can be more student-focussed and flexible
Position of the Students’ Union on its governance structures – a statement quoting the motion has been placed on the ‘governance’ page of the website and a working group has been formed: Jess Tratt, Jesse Fajemisin, Rheem Al-Adhami and Jennifer Jones.
Save NUS Democracy – Delegate whipped (Jess Tratt) voted against the proposals at the NUS Extraordinary Conference on
12/11/08.
Stop the Spread of War
– Affiliation cheque written and sent to Stop the War.
Campaign fund access – Disagreements over the ownership of this motion and whether it belongs to the Trustee Board or the Assembly have led to external advice being taken, more news by
21/11/08.
Hosting Suzanne Weiss and John Riddell – Mrs. Weiss and John Riddell were formally hosted by the
Union and a contribution to their costs has been made. A letter of thanks is still to be sent.
Use of Facebook – Sabbatical Officers are now the only admins on the group (James Bates is still there because he is creator) and will send out messages for social, cultural and political purposes only at a rate of two per week.
Printer and Hot-Computer Facilities – We are currently looking at where we can fit the computer into the Sabbatical Office.
Welcoming reception and informative signage in Union offices – Relevant staff have been asked to order signs.
Tidy garden mess & make available for Student Use –
Ethical and Environmental Officer to create working group.

You must be elected to sit on the Assembly, in February elections take place to elect the equal oppotunities and campaigns officers and elections for the departmental rep places take place in October.
