SOS: Support Our Students
As Welfare and Education Officer, I'll be co-ordinating this campaign, which focusses on lobbying the College to improve its various channels of support and provisions for the students.
A lot of this campaign, will take place in the form of committee meetings with staff from the College, where I will be representing the student voice and it's concerns.
Having personally experienced life at Goldsmiths, and spoken to many others, I have devised the campaign to focus on the following aspects:
* Make students aware of/Encourage students to use the support available to them
* Essay/Exam Feedback
* Virtual Learning Environment/Learn.gold provisions
* Better care and support for Joint-Degree students
* Training and greater focus on pastoral nature of Tutor roles
This campaign is two-way, we can lobby the College to raise its standards, but that is only effective if students seek help when they need it. So as well as pushing the College for changes and improvements, I will be using the campaign to educate students on their entitlements, and develop an attitude that makes use of as many of Goldsmiths' support channels as possible. Often students have a preset mentality that they can't be helped, but in reality, Goldsmiths is in a bitter position to support you if they are aware of any issues affecting you.
