Palestine Twinning Campaign

 

Goldsmiths Students Union has voted to Twin with Al-Quds University, in Nablus, the West Bank, Palestine. We wish to form a relationship with Al-Quds that will eventually culminate in Goldsmiths offering 2 scholarships to Palestinians students, whose access to education is frequently under threat due to the illegal occupation.

Up-coming Campaign Events:
Palestine Week: Goldsmiths Student Union is hosting a visit with two students from Al Quds on the week beginning 5th May to 9th May. On Tuesday 6th May at 5pm we will be hosting the official welcome event in the Stretch Bar with traditional Arabic food, music and entertainment. Come along and meet the students and raise money for the Al-Quds Twinning fund. There is no entrance fee, but we will be asking for donations throughout the night. There will be meetings through out the week discussing the occuption, how this effects their education and what we can do as students to support the oppressed peoples of Palestine.

We have been fund raising for theto visit Goldsmiths since the beginning of this school year, and we will continue to fund raise for the return visit next year where prospectively the Goldsmiths Student Union President and Campaigns & Communications Officer will fly to Palestine and visit Al-Quds to cement the arrangements for the Twinning.
